Ushguli Village Up Crossroads

Svanetian Village of Ushguli, which is recognised as the highest settlement in Europe (2,060-2,200 m above the sea level), counts the 2000 years of history. This series of photos by Gia Chkhartishvili was being created in the stretch of decade since the 80-ies of the last century. It reflects the daily existence of the village – its traditional lifestyle, religious rituals, hospitality, hard work and togetherness of Ushgulians.
