Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum is the first cultural institution in Georgia to perform the research of South Caucasus photographical legacy since 2018. The research covers 3 periods of Azerbaijani, Georgian and Armenian photographical heritage: 19th century, 70-year period of Soviet occupation and the modern era.

The research going on for the last 3 years envisages identifying, analysing, archiving, and popularising the South Caucasus photographical legacy.

Within the framework of the current research, Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum initiated creation of the fififirst digital archive that will unite the works of all three periods within one virtual space and will make them available to the online users.

In 2022, the Museum will host the exhibition of the second half of 19th century – the golden era of South Caucasian photography.
