Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum

Founded as a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization in 2017, the Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum (TPMM) is the first institution in Georgia entirely dedicated to the contemporary image in its different forms: photography, new media, video. Through its numerous exhibitions, discussions and educational programmes, TPMM seeks to serve as an independent platform to promote photography as a catalyst for social and cultural change in Georgia, the South Caucasus and the wider world. The Museum is located at Stamba - an old Soviet-era publishing house that was transformed into a boutique hotel in 2018.

Through exhibitions, debates and educational programs, TPMM is an independent platform to promote photography and visual culture in the whole region of South Caucasus. One of the leading projects of TPMM is “South Caucasus Hub for Education and Innovation” (PHEI) funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). TPMM brings together photographers, curators, artists, experts, filmmakers, video artists, students and scholars to explore photography as a medium to reflect contemporary realities in society and to empower important social and cultural changes. At TPMM, there is an emphasis on the important role of female photographers in examining, promoting, and advocating for change.
