My four older brothers and I had a pretty free-willed childhood. My oldest brother Vlad, being a teenager, captured it on a Zenit camera. I rediscovered numerous rolls of film in 2016 when my brother passed away. 

This inspired me to continue the family archive through the perspective of kids. Over the last six years, against the captured backdrop of my nephews’ childhood, the adults dealt with the impacts of the economic crisis, the pandemic and emigration.

Katerina Shosheva is the shortlisted photographer of the EU Neighbours East - Fotofestiwal photo contest - Family Connections. The gala awards event in Tbilisi was organized in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia and the Tbilisi Photography and Multimedia Museum
